Northrop Grumman Collaboration Project (NGCP) Opportunity

Group of students with autonomous vehicle

The Northrop Grumman Collaboration Project (NGCP) is an interdisciplinary project where teams design and build autonomous vehicles. This year, these vehicles will perform a search and rescue mission “Archangel” and fetch items from an obstructed “danger zone”. Each campus (Cal Poly SLO and Cal Poly Pomona) is developing a drone and a rover.

We have two main teams representing each vehicle and the operations team: Vertical Take-off and Landing aircraft (VTOL), Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), and Ground Control Systems (GCS).

We have weekly meetings Thursdays from 11 am-noon in Bldg. 20-145 where team leads present and we discuss what is to be done this week. Our workdays are on Saturdays at 10 am at the same place. This is a very unique opportunity to work in an industry-like setting in tandem with Northrop Grumman engineers and executives, who provide constant feedback throughout the year. Many of our members receive internship and full-time employment from Northrop Grumman and other major companies. Members of all skill levels are welcome! We hope that you’ll join our team and we’ll all have fun engineering!

If you want to learn more email us at ngcp.calpoly@gmail.com or simply show up at one of our meetings.
